Would not run in Vista and I have double the requirements needed, wouldn’t even launch. This is a broken add on for a buggy, crash happy, broken game.

i SCREWED UP THE GAME RATINGS AND THE EDITOR WONT LET ME CHANGE THEM. SOOOO . .
FUN . . . . 5 STARS
GAME . . . . 1 STARS
SORRY
Note: once again Point lookout crashes on sailing there. This makes about seventy five percent of this addon unplayable. So one star is the only vote I can give.
Broken Steel turned out to be some very simple additional tasks that had to be concluded before the Enclave forces were properly kicked out of town so to speak. The tasks were good, basically an extension of the kind of combat that one had had before that time, but really nothing special compared to the rest of the game. However, I was surprised by how short it lasted. It was kind of cool though, IMO. There are a few more weapons ya get which are useful and at least one new type of armour that is very good which is cool. And it was helpful that you could level up to 30 instead of just twenty. Also there were a lot more different types of skills you could chose from which was cool.
I didn’t really find any knew characters in Broken Steel that I could feel a lot of empathy with or friendly toward, but on the other hand they were okay.
The best part of this add-on though, IMO, is Point Lookout. It has great atmosphere, much different that DC, with different enemies, a new map with new terrain, a different type of ghoul, at least three type of back country “hillbillies” that are very hard to kill, etc. They say a lot of really funny stuff, and they are fun to play with, like shoot them with the dart gun and have them chase you. Watch it though because they run in groups and they can kill ya really fast.
There are several different types of weapons that are a lot of fun to use like the lever action rifle. I especially liked using the fertilizer shovel as a melee weapon for one hit kills while sneaking. Use this with the Ninja gear you get from Operation Anchorage and you can sneak up on anyone in crouch and whack them over the head.
The enemies you will meet are a lot harder to kill than in the Wasteland. The main quest is interesting and not long or really too short, or even hard, but okay.
The side quests are rather simple but entertaining, for example, (SPOILER) you can bring ingredients to a person you find in the area to make moonshine which she will share with you and give you caps.
One thing I really, really like is the guy in the hardware store who, the more you use him, the better he becomes at repairing your weapons, so that after using him a bunch, he can repair your weapons costing caps of course up to almost 100 percent. He is also a very cool guy.
You will also quickly discover that the Chinese have infiltrated Point Lookout as well which is one of the funnier side quests in the whole FO3 set, IMO. I won’t spoil it for you but it is pretty funny.
There are several other really zany, nutty characters involved, rather twisted in a fun way. I think you will really enjoy this one. It is very original, and a great contrast to the dry DC wasteland with the swamps, mud pits, and ocean bordering the east and south side of the map complete with lighthouse, sunken submarine, and wrecked ships.
I do have one very, very big complaint though. That is the game has a tendency to crash when initially loading from the Wasteland to travel to Point Lookout proper. I found some work arounds a couple of times. But there were times I had to completely abandon my character and start the game over again to merely be able to get to Point Lookout. NOT ACCEPTABLE.
So all and all, this add-on is redeemed by Point Lookout . . . if you can get to it without your game crashing.
One other thing . . . like in all the rest of the wasteland, there is a big problem, IMO, in the rendering of the static object, and shooting around them. What I mean is, that when you clearly have a shot over or around a rock, and you shoot, ya hit the rock instead of the target. I suppose that this is because the rendering engine displays the object, but the actual visible portion of the object does not perfectly match what ya can see. This can be overcome. But . . . . having played STALKER a lot, I know that this is not necessarily how it has to be. In STALKER ya can inch up to one pixel away from the side of a building say, and shoot around it without interference from the object. I love this, because ya don’t have to guess where the object ends and where it begins. Anyway . . . maybe they will fix this in New Vegas. And it is certainly not a deal killer.

Played the game from start to finish three times; as, different caracters. Still playing and finding things that were not discovered during the first three trys.
Purchase all the ad-ons. You won’t regret it.
